The ISFM (International Society of Feline Medicine) is the veterinary division of International Cat Care (www.icatcare.org), a charity that aims to improve the health and welfare of cats around the world.
- Cats often dislike traveling and feel unsafe when away from their home.
- Cats are very sensitive to new sounds, impressions and smells.
- Most cats like silence and peace and are very sensitive to stress.
- Most cats become very stressed by dogs sitting close by in a veterinary clinic.
- Cats should be treated with care and respect in the clinic.
The Cat Friendly Clinic standard can be a useful tool to map out how well this is handled in the veterinary clinic.
Our practice has the certificate Cat Friendly Clinic achieved!
This means that we have made a number of adjustments within the practice to make your cat's visit as pleasant as possible.
- There is a special waiting area for your cat with a raised platform. Cats like to sit high.
- Every Wednesday afternoon there is a special cat consultation hour in our clinic in Nieuw-Bergen.
- There is a consultation room set up to treat cats. This consultation room is adjacent to the cat waiting area and is set up so that your cat can walk around freely.
- We have special recording booths that are designed so that cats can display their natural behavior.
These are just a few important changes. Feel free to come by and have a look.
