Several reasons to have your rabbit neutered:
- Unneutered males may become aggressive towards other males and/or towards their owner.
- They can fight with their own kind
- They can also go spraying
- Taking care of unwanted coverage
From what age can castration be performed?
You can have your rabbit neutered at the age of 4-5 months.
NOTE: the first 2-3 weeks after surgery a male rabbit is still able to produce offspring! If you want to prevent this, keep your rabbits separated for a few weeks.

The costs for castrating your rabbit are € 140,79 (price as of 01-01-2026)
This includes admission before and after the operation, pre-anesthetic examination, a painkilling injection and antibiotic injection and all anesthetics. Any costs for painkilling medication for home and other medication are added to this.
After the operation:
We keep your rabbit here until it is fully awake. At home it is important that it gets a quiet and warm place to recover well, also offer food immediately, especially hay is very important. If you notice that your rabbit is eating poorly you can pick up critical care here, this is force feeding.
Sterilization of rabbit
Information about sterilizing your rabbit:
It is wise to have female rabbits spayed. This prevents your rabbit from developing a uterine tumor or other uterine problem later in life. You can still give some hay/food from home when you bring your rabbit for the operation. It is important for a rabbit's gastrointestinal tract to remain active.
Several reasons to have your rabbit sterilized:
- Preventing unwanted pregnancy
- Preventing hormonal problems such as cystic ovaries
- Preventing uterine infections
- Preventing uterine tumors
- How to counter aggression or dominance in female rabbits
Rabbits are fertile from 3-5 months of age. A female can be mated as soon as she is fertile. We also recommend separating the males and females from that age. Once a rabbit has been mated, the pregnancy lasts between 29 and 33 days.
From what age can you sterilize?
We can sterilise your rabbit from the age of 6 months, but we prefer to do this at a later age from 11-12 months old. The reason for this is that the operation is then a lot easier because there is more fat in the suspensory ligaments of the ovaries and the ovaries are less deep in the abdomen.

The cost of sterilizing your rabbit is €197,67 (price as of January 1, 2026).
This includes admission before and after the operation, pre-anesthetic examination, a painkilling injection and antibiotic injection and all anesthetics. Costs for antibiotics and painkillers after the operation are added to this.
After the operation:
We will keep your rabbit here until it is fully awake. At home it is important that your rabbit gets a quiet warm spot to recover further, it is also important that you offer hay and food. Hay is especially important, if you notice that the animal is not eating well you can offer critical care this is a force feeding with all the necessities.
