Where does euthanasia of my pet take place?
Euthanasia (popularly called 'giving an injection') can take place at your home. The condition for this is that you inform the practice in time. This way, a quiet moment can be found where the vet can take all the time for this. It is of course also possible to have your animal put to sleep at the practice. In this case, it is also best for your pet and you if you make an appointment for this. This way, we can schedule the euthanasia at a quiet moment so that you can say goodbye in peace.
How does euthanasia proceed?
In euthanasia, your pet will first be given an injection that will make him or her fall asleep. You can see this as the normal preparation for an operation, for example. When your pet is in a deep sleep and no longer notices what is happening in the environment, the vet will administer the second drug. This is an overdose of an anesthetic that will make your pet fall asleep further.
After falling asleep
After the death of your pet, there are a number of options. You can leave your pet at the practice. He or she will be temporarily cooled and picked up by the crematorium. You can also choose individual cremation or together with other animals. We work together with Majesta Animal Crematorium (De Maashorst in Uden). If you have a preference for another crematorium, that is of course also possible. Finally, it is also possible to bury your pet at home. The vet will always ask you about your preference.
The euthanasia of a pet is an emotional moment in which a lot comes at you. If you have any questions after the euthanasia, do not hesitate to contact us. If you are unsure whether you are making the right choice, you can always contact the practice to discuss this.
